x18 muffler..

hey,
sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but how to you take apart the x18 muffler can? i wanted to do the "stock muffler mod" i just dont know how to open it up.. do i have to cut it open? or what? thanx guys..

drill out all the rivits, pull off the end cap, slide the rest off as a sleeve, then cut

Right, but the end caps on mine where welded to the center core so it all slide out as one piece. The aluminum sleeve was just a cover for the one piece core.

oh ok and what do i use to put it back together?

Rivets.They're very easy to use.

you could just use screws....i used just one one my last bike....they wont back out as long as the screws are a good fit

You need a rivet gun too. It's not as bad as that sounds.

real cheap at Harbor Freight. Once you have one you'll find you can use it on more things than you thought. And if you want to box in your swingarm this is also the tool you need.

oh wow thats cheap lol.
ill get my fmf pipe modded to fit my x18 then ill try to mod my stock one too.
