I told a member on this forum that i would put up a thread on the custom under slung exhaust.
First of i happen to luck up on one of the exhaust from a mini chopper.I cut it to the lenght i needed. Then went to the hardware store to get another piece of pipe to finish. The section of pipe leading up to the exhaust can was from the stock header. With a little heat i was able to bend it lose to what i needed. In all honesty i can't weld for SH*T.LOL So but the next one i do i'll make it all pretty. But this set up was designed around a 110cc motor.I didn't factor in putting a bigger motor.Which meant the whole system would have to be slid forward. That i decided to use hose clamps instead of welding again.
I used the support legs off of one of those stands that holds the sheet music.I forgot what the called them(LOLOLOL)presto exhaust hanger.

ya i like that S
its not real pretty but i bet it works good
i hate that big J in my pipe and its SO close to my head and plug area
scuff it up and hit it with some high temp paint
your bike looks like your a good rider, pushing the limits, max performance
hows that lifan so far? you gettin better lap times at your 'spot' with it?
are you gonna sheet thelog lol lol
swheels

It definitely flows better than the j headers.I noticed the difference instantly when i had the 110cc motor on the bike.
Lifan seems to be working better for now.I plan on hitting up the test facility this weekend. Then see how much this motor can take. With the way it's running now.Oh yeah i'd definitely handle thelog.....The funny thing is i'm running the cam from my 110cc motor.

lol besides the welds(I couldn`t do any better so what am I talking about?lol)
thats a sweet set up.Will it fit in the x-18 fairings though? How would I go about making that style exhaust so I could put the x-18 fairings on over it? What did you use for the header part(bolted to the cylinder)?Lastley what yoshi can is that, like is it just a universal?

To get around a lot of the welding it might be easier to use a tube bender. Using a long enough piece of tubing and a bender you can lay the pipe in a bend as you go. Using a flex ruler or a thick gauge copper wire would help a lot. Using the ruler/wire you bend it until you have the right shape. Then lay it up to your pipe and start bending. Spending time getting the template right and practicing your bending will make the job a lot easier and the finished header look a lot better. Cutting your flange for the exhaust port takes a bandsaw and time or you can cut one off a donor header. The first and last pictures are Harbour Freight and the two in the middle are of a DIY net plan bender.

Your x18 fairings will fit over it with no problems.I have x7 fairings which are waaaaaay narrow in comparison to the x18.The header i use will bolt right up no mods needed. The yoshimura slip on can was from a 1:1 bike compliments of the nuttyP.The yoshi can was about 15in long.I had to cut it down so i cut it to 8 1/2in.Then i used the end cap from the stock exhaust as the inlet on the yoshi. Then welded up a piece of the stock pipe to it.So i can take it off without haveing to remove the whole system.
Well just as a quick test i took off the yoshi can then put back on my thermos can. With the yoshi i had motor better lowend end the motor topped out quicker. When i put the thermos on it didn't feel as strong on the lowend but mid was ok the top end was sick. The rpm's just kept going and so did the motor.Plus the motor ran cooler ofcourse.:cool:thumbsup2

lol which thermos was it? did you weld it to the factory x-18 exhaust? It's a stainless steel one and you go to the houseware section OOPs i mean the high performance mid/superbike section(Yeah thats it)They have them in different sizes.i didn't weld it just make the necessary holes then bolts right up.I placed the bolts through the inside of the thermos then put the nuts on the back. There is a inner and a outer part to the thermos.I cut the bottom out to get to the inner bottom.Ofcourse theres no packing in it but i made the exhaust hole 2mm smaller than the stock pipe.To give it some kind of back pressure.

I love it! A bit of bush engineering. Great idea to use the thermos for a muffler can.
Reading this reminded me of the muffler I made for my VFR400 racer (now that was a wild little bike to ride!). I'll post up pics of the muffler later. I'm thinking of modifying it for the X1.25 . It wouldn't be hard shorten it but it might be a bit big diameter-wise to look right . And the bore is about perfect. I want to do an "under" style exhaust both for looks and also I don't think I'll have room inside the X1.25 frame for an "over" style. banana

I just wish I could build the stock 11occ motor and it have lots of pep without spending a fortune...ANYWAY sorry for high jacking your thread S,great how to. rock

Yeah same motor. Where did you find it? It looks like a custom pipe. The springs give that away. I have yet to see an exhaust for one of these that uses springs (I think). That more a race bike practice. One thing though that pipe is going to cost a whole truck load of thermo's.hangloose

The only problem I would see is heat. If it was a carbon pipe I would say no problem, but a high pipe would be very close to the ham hocksmachinegun2.

Blitz,
Thats odd, i have not run into that issue yet maby the supplier just goofed and sent me a zong head by mistake. Anways, if ya dont mind can u let me know what the part number for the cam that head uses is just for future reference so i dont run into this problem.

um, i dont know actually
its a race cam for the big valve zong head
the difference is clear
the one that i got is missing the notched oneway lobe
he said the performance cams do away with that
its real noisy running and i think its the aggressiveness of the cam
it runs like a beast

hey guys.
ill be working on a new pipe. i have a real tubing bender. 1",1.25",1.5",1.75" dies. it makes a beautiful bend. as nice as a mandrel bender as long as the tubing isnt too thin.
would a good pipe for racing be best as starting with one inch and going up to one and a quarter? should flow faster. or just one and a quarter all the way?
if you have a little patience i should have some material in a coulple weeks.

Nice bike Swheels. I like the under slung and the way it flows with the rest of the bike. Is that a X18 frame with X7 fairings? I'm going with the naked look and just received the X7 rear, seat, and tank. I haven't really looked at how they fit on my X18 frame since I've been a little under the weather.
