Irk ?

Sorry if this is a dumb question but what is an IRK and what does it do? I've been trying to look it up for some info but there is no real explination. Does a stock x18 have one? It is an aftermarket part that takes the place of the stator. You lose the ability to charge your battery and run electronics off of the engine. If added your bike will rev much faster and higher.
