View Full Version : My Chopper build

OK, I decided to take a break from the YSR650 for right now an build a chopper. I'm still going to finish the 650 but wanted to do something street legal too. My starting point is a 1998 Buell S1 Lighting 1200cc at the moment I'm ripping that bike down an having a frame built by Bare Knuckle Choppers it should be here January sometime. Ill update this thread as I go.

Buell closes its door 2 months ago after 25 years of building motorcycles and you go chop up an S1 LOL. Well you only live once.

12-08-2009, 06:32 PM
Huh thinking_smilie You're not having the Buell frame modified but a whole new one built? That's a new bike not a Buell chopper? Or maybe I'm missing something? It not uncommon for me being a grumpy old man moon1
It seems like a bad thing to do considering Buell just got tanked. The value may be low now but give it a little time and I see it going back up.

Very smart man thumbsup2 bluelaugh Now that I think about it a 1125 motor would be bad arse in a chopper speechless33

The 1125 would suck in a chopper not even built by harley.
The Nutty Professor
12-08-2009, 07:47 PM
What does not being built by Harley have to do with it? That motor would pull a stump out of the ground. Do I like the fact they raced in in AMA in the Daytona Superbike class? Hell no Nutty-Rant But that has nothing to do with the fact it's a well developed motor that screams.

12-08-2009, 07:52 PM
Race motor YES chopper motor NO. Why would you want a power house like that in something that handles like a school bus? I think it was kick arse that Buell went out and smoked everyone in there last year as a company. I loved watching that buell 1125r run right past everyone on the track.

Dumb question I know but are your motor mounts the same as all other Harley motors? I don't know a whole lot about Harley as a matter of fact I pretty ignorant when it comes to the cruiser part of biking. Are all Harley mounts the same or are they different with each style motor?
Ready2Fight
01-23-2010, 09:01 AM
Sportsters (Buell motors) Are different than big C.I. motors because the motor the Troxl is using is a 1200 Buell motor. and that has the tranny built right on to it. Big harley motors the tranny is seperate and the motor mounts on 2 flats with 4 bolts facing down.
