Murdered out bikes are cool but i like to add a color here and there to make it pop a little bit....For example my big bike has flat black fairings with a gloss black frame, and i wanna put some candy blue on the wheels, cage, and a few other parts just so the bike has a little more goin on with it. If it was me i would go full fairing on that bike just bcuz of the down tubes on the frame but thats just me.

short answer, sounds good thumbsup2

hey dont use that sgr 146 kit, it looks nice but i broke two of those pistons
try this, get a 1mm base plate and dont try to start it until the bigger head is on there, then it might clear
i ran mine with the stock head and it hit it

if going SF, ditch the lower cage, it really makes the bike have some curvage, and gives it a nice lightweight sleek look.

LOL yeah you cut the cradle and you'll have yourself a bonafide deathtrap on 2 wheels.Just waiting to flex on you when you go to take a turn to fast.LOLOLOL

First off if you do decide to cut the cradle you'll have to reinforce the rear. The area like right underneath the rear where the engine would go.The older style x15 frames got away with a half cradle because it was braced in that area i described. Maybe later i'll through up a pic.Plus Nutty P has more info on why it's a bad idea and how it structurally comprises that chassis.

Yeah it'll look good but how good would you look all banged up?????

Mine held up fine thought a highside that flipped the bike twice, and two other lowsides.

Mine held up fine thought a highside that flipped the bike twice, and two other lowsides.Listen to what you just said.LOL yours held up fine????? Did you ever stop to think that maybe because you cut that section out that it also caused some instability undesireable flexing. That it could have contributed also to your highside?????? So the bike was fine it held up.. Uh Ok????? Once again donot cut that cradle unless your ready to do some bracing.Otherwise you'll have a nice looking bike that might end up with a mangle swingarm and possible bodily injuries like fivestar.thumbsup2

I've wondered about the cradle since we discussed it a long time ago so I did a little homework. Anybody read any http://www.tonyfoale.com/ I have and not all of it's on this site. I have also read through old GP tech books and I think I found it. It's called "jacking" or flexing in the middle of the frame when the bike is straight up and down. Imagine a truck jack-knifing as it trys to come to a sudden stop. The bike is loaded in the front and the rear either trys to slap you in the back or swings left or right. Not literally but you get the idea it flexes in those directions. The cradle actually pushes back against those forces. Did the Chinese engineer that into the bikes? I seriously doubt it they just copied an existing design and that's what fell out. I think using the cradle is for ease of manufacture. They don't have to re-enforce other areas which is slower due to the confined space to weld. Slap on down tubes and you're good.

I also think that we won't feel most of those forces running 110cc motors but when you start upping the anty there are going to serious problems unless you think through what you want to do with your ride. soap_box

thats why im using the akunar piston, supposibly they last a lost longer. I dont even have the stock head so the big valve head is going on, so my clearence should be good. I have read many good reviews about the sgr kit with BVH so im gonna stick to it. besides i ordered it alreadyrolleye0010

dont worry im not cutting the cradle, yes it would look better but im wanting a frame that will last a long time and aint gonna break from the power this engine is gonna put out

well the bike is a roller now, I should be getting my vm26 tomorrow. Bought it for 50 bucs thanks to ebay. Also i just ordered a FMF Powercore 4 exhaust for 70 bucs. The x18 exhaust was giving me some doubts. And engine parts should be here next wednesday or so, I hope!

Aso after some modding to the front forks and swheels preload adjusters they seem so much better! their stiffer which way is better for my 200 pound arse. I filled them with 20 wt oil and im pretty damn happy with them. And as for the rear shock a different spring was used and much better and stiffer as well. Shock came from an old dirt bike.

anyone know where to order cheap rear sprockets? the cheapest i have found is 40 shipped. - thanks

oh yeah still gotta cut the gas cap line and find some sort of cap for it

Will that FMF pipe clear the frame?

FiveStarSky
07-23-2009, 08:20 AM
Will that FMF pipe clear the frame?

probably not, he will more than likely have to cut a small section of the lower cage out so the downtube will fit.

K-Pac
07-23-2009, 09:41 AM
You can also put the FMF on using the stock pipe. Just cut off the flange and weld the two together. Thats what this guy did: YouTube - NO LONGER FORSALE !!!! my OLD X18 Track Bike

Will that FMF pipe clear the frame?

nope not even close

probably not, he will more than likely have to cut a small section of the lower cage out so the downtube will fit.

nope, the pipe will need some re-angling and bending, maybe welding but thats my last option

to make my pipe fit, i made a middle piece

anyone got a spare air filter and 26mm intake with boot they would be willing to let go?
