That sounds like a Fun Project..

I have this Chinese X1 to mess with over the winter.

.My Dad got it awhile back to tool around with but we never fully got it going..He picked up a second frame, motor and parts for $15.00 bucks at a flea market..I have to install the pipe, tank,re do the wiring, remove a lot of stuff..I'll never race it as I'd have to sink too much into it and my Euro pocketbikes just will eat it up.. but it just gives me something to mess with as he gave it to me for free..I just want to get it together and running again..

I had a lot of Z50s through the years, there was a motorcycle salvage yard located close to where I lived when I was young and I we used to buy all the small bikes out of it and fix them up.

The first bike I owned with a clutch was a Blue 1971 Honda SL 70..Like in the link below..

I use to go all over the place with that bike...I loved it..Felt like I was Elvis or something.

I eventually took off all the lights, put a new knobby tire on the back and made it into a dirtbike with a number plate on the front.....ha the bike even had the tore up seat after awhile like in the link.
This bike however was owned by a cop when I got it and didn't have much use..I paid I think $150.00 back then for it...he had it in his basement, knew I rode>(all over the street on the 50) and offerered it up to me for sale....I actually sold one of the 50s to one of the kids that rode with us and he tore it up in a month...I've never seen a chain stretched so much.

After I got into the two strokers I used to let my friends use the SL 70 as a bit of a trainer bike which became the bike my girlfriend used to ride all the time then..

The only problem I had with it was the Petcock,if I got any dirt build up in it,the bike would stall. The petcock just seem to clog very easy and would leak..

If I could own a SL 70 today I would....I wonder what ever happened to the bike after I sold it..I know the guy rode it on the street and it got impounded.,after that who knows.

...I never had a CL 70..looks cool

We bought one or the Trail 70s,a blue one..It was ratty..It had sat with it's tires sunk into the dirt of a guys back yard..Just taking the weather year after year on it...Everything was rusty except the motor...The motor ran fine.

We wound up taking the motor out and putting it in a old CR 60 frame...We had to do alot of frame modding welding ..My dad loved that bike,he'd ride it all the time..
