Hey guys, I need your input on something I want to do this summer.
I am looking at buying a Honda CT 70 clone to build with a larger motor (150 or 160).
http://www.fiveflagsmotorbikes.com/dirtdobberIV.htm
This site has them for a good price. I asked and they said they can easily be made street legal.
My question for you guys is... Has anyone ridden a honda mini trail bike? How would they compare to an X18? And finally, what do you all think about these mini bikes?
I like that they have a steel frame, so there is no cheap plastic to break. Let me know what you guys think...

I think as a daily driver it's a good choice. Beats the hell out of a scooter if you don't want to go the Mid route. BUT! There's always a but. All the parts you'll be putting a lot of strain on daily I would change. Like the foot pegs and the handlebar clamps or their bolts. It sucks to be even a mile from home and have to ride back with one foot peg or having to push because the handlebars won't stay in place. Other than that thumbsup2

I have one of these I bought last year at the begining of fall. It is a 08 model and a American Lifan Branded Lifan bike.
Mine had a 110cc e start engine and I re-geared it and rode it all winter to work and back.
I Put a Lifan 140cc iron block all up shift engine into it in Jan just beacause I got the engine cheap.
I am very happy with mine. The site you posted has very nice ones when they are in stock and also http://www.mytrailbuddy.com/ has a nice 125 pro.
Here is what mine looks like.

I paid $800 for mine out the door with a 1 year warrenty.
A fellow on the planetminitrails board just got a trail buddy pro and you can see the differances between the lower end one like mine and his $1300 bike.
Heres that link to his thread over there.

hey dsrt4,
im looking to get the best stock bike possible, i like the disc brakes a lot on the black one
then eventually put a YX160 in it and make it legal
should be a fun ride
how difficult was it to get yours street legal?
I dont know of any distributors around here, where did you get yours from?
it would be nice not to have to pay extra for shipping
btw, thank for all the info

My Lifan was very easy to License.
It is a American Lifan brand and the MSO was filled correctly and even my insuance had the company on file.
Get one from a reputable dealer.
Like Trailbuddy, Hooper Imports or A decent American Lifan dealer.
