AKA "Mad Max"...
Backstory:
So since my kid got a test ride on an NSR50, the X18 is officially retired. He has zero interest in it (X18) competitively any more. It will now be the "crash bike" for all the younger kids moving up from pockets to shifters.
Since I pretty much have a motorcycle graveyard in my garage, I decided to start throwing stuff together...(I can't help it).
XR50 type frame and (aftermarket) suspension
XR50 type gas tank and plastics
X18 drivetrain
X18 wheels and tires
clip ons
Here is the start after about a 20 minute mock up...

Quick update for today:
Engine bolted in - stock 107cc.
Using a wrench as my rear shock for now. (Would like it to sit about an inch lower than now, but that wrench was nearby).
Next up, looking for some 33mm clip ons and a 10 inch rear shock.

Akunar has the clipons your're looking for cheap-well until you count shipping. Looking good but I think your going to see a lot of flex when the bikes cranked over in a corner thinking_smilie

Came off the 88cc (which is going back into the 18) for now. Very good investment, I must say. Need an ORK for the Lifan though.

I was checking out the Akunar site, and with that said I might try and make my own. 33mm just isn't a popular size I guess? I may just go with a dirtbike bars for now, since my goal is to have it on the track for a kid on June 6th.
I will find out for sure in about 2 weeks or so. I normally prefer perimeter frames, but this one had the right price = FREE!

My mom? Ha Ha, yeah...How bout my wife? Umm yeah, note the dog food bag underneath the bike today...just in case I drop or spill anything. What you can't see in the pics is my coffee table with the 12 inch tire motard on it, next to the X18 chassis. bluelaugh
My wife puts up with a lot of crap, but it's always cleaned up before company comes over, and there are always multiple bikes to ride.

Over size axle, or a fork brace, maybe?

So another quick update - nothing really custom, just a down and dirty "make what I have here already fit it" type of deal....
Had to turn the rear wheel in the lathe and take it down about 3/8 inch overall to make it fit (so the rear sprocket would line up with the countershaft sprocket). Replaced gravel filled wheel bearings while I was in there.
Single piston caliper/master from a pitbike - (caliper cut down to fit inside the 10" wheel) along with the rear X18 rotor up front. Again new wheel bearings.
X18 front rotor and stock X18 master/caliper setup out back (mostly for show, (and tech)
Mini mx bars ($15)
stock X18 throttle (already had)
Chinkuni carb (already had)
Uni filter (already had)
generic seat (already had)
generic tank ($20)
Skull graphics (purely for intimidation)bluelaugh
Still needs chain sized, footpeg mounts, and a new plug wire.

Oh, I have a garage (3 car)...but my wife likes to hang out with me when I am working on the bikes. (Matter of fact, she does the graphics). Since the garage is so frakkin hot in the summer, I bring the bikes in the house. thumbsup2
