Hello new guy here, actually found your site due to the hubbub over at oldminibikes.com:)

Anyway, One of my next builds is a 1973 Premier "BeBe" Italian 50cc minicycle. I am wanting to make it look like an old school cafe bike. I was trying to find some Clip on handlebars. Of course most commonly sold are only dropping down to like 34mm, where My forks are only 27 I believe. I started searching around at the handlebars for the midbikes. I have not seen any that give sizes and honestly nothing that looks real well made. Are they're any performance ones avail for the mid, and of course does anyone know the roundabout size for the mid forks? Also, are the bars the standard size or are thing like handle grips/controls smaller for the mids?

Heres pic of the bike, its still in the "fresh from the barn" stage, I did get it running, got it to run in the high 30's on flat tires and and a clogging carb so it should not be too terrible when fixed up...I hope!
I laid a set of mountainbike bars on there to sort of get an idea of how it would look.

So the online conversion I use is 0.875 inch = 22.225 millimeter Looks a little to small. I don't have my X22 forks anymore but the fork tubes are larger on it than the X18. Hold on I think I've still got the triple I'll go measure that...back in a minute.

Dude sorry I lost inter-net last night right after. I had the measurements but couldn't post them. X22 1 inch or about 25.5mm. I think they're really a touch bigger I was doing a SWAG with a ruler couldn't find my gauge. But they're close enough that a small amount of work will get them right. At the very least they're close enough the you can take them to a shop give them to the guys and tell them to copy the size in better material. Use it as a template :dunno:

Thanks for the info guys, Looking at the link to the bars/parts for x/18 look much stronger than the ones I was see at other places (I was just searching for "pocket bike", I did not know there are so many different sizes of these bikes now!)

Are x/22's about he same in build (only bigger)? Also is there a place that sell the parts for them you could maybe point me toward? I did a search for x22 and I am only getting new bikes for sale.

Thanks for all the help I really appreciate it!

Not sure if any of the X bikes have that large of a fork tube, I'm gonna guess not unless "maybe" the x17, it is a much larger bike and has thick tubes... The other option would be to use low profile clamps and make drag bars....Or You may be able to use a complete x17 front end....

Are you gonna take off the dirt bike tires and go with more of a street tire?? If so depending on your wheel size you can look for scooter tires...I'm guessing the wheels are either 12 or 14"??

If you want to trick it out and make it more like a racer you can get rid of the rear shocks and do a mono shock from a pit bike with some custom brackets....

the wheels are 10" and yes street tires for sure. I'm probably gonna need new wheels, these are pitted pretty good. I know the bike looks big in the pic but its not, off the stand the highest pint (minus current handlebars) is the gascap and thats coming in under 27" tall. I guess I need to go find a shop around that has the "super" bikes I honestly have never seen one upclose. I have tiny pocketbikes stuck in my mind!!! Need to get some measurments etc.. Maybe I can adapt a whole fork assy

Been searching a little and found pocketbikeracing or something like that that has a bunch of custom stuff. they have some clip ons that look pretty nice and have sleeves in them to fit either PB's or supers Might be able to hone them out a little and get them to squeeze on!

Sounds like PBU... stay away from them....

10" wheels you can use tires from our mids, heck you could even adapt a set of wheel on there too... Or get a set of pit bike spoked wheeks if you want to keep a more vintage look..

Measure the length of the fork tubes and the width of the triple trees center to center and that will give us a better idea of what front end will be close to what you have..
