How far would you travel to race your midbike?
I am asking because I understand there are midbike owners all over the place who really want to race but it is impossbile to have midbike events in all corners of the US so... how far would you really drive to race?
Sub-Question: Would a cash payout for racers increase the distance you would go?

I should also include just spectating.
I myself was really considering going to VIR just to watch and meet people and take pics.
I think my racing skills would actually "set back" the midbike movement...cool_smilie

rock2Let me tell you if had the money there wouldn't be an even that would get past me.I would enter every event on the east and west coast.I wouldn't even care for the cash payout for me it's all about the love and the challenge + thrill.I'm so into this but short on bucks that i was even considering uprooting and moving the whole family to either Ga,Ca,Az or texas just to get closer to some tracks. That's one of the reasons why i moved to Nc.Looking at the other forum i saw all these peeps willing and wanting to race. Now so far i seem like i'm the only one.LOL I was hoping that the black hills circuit would have turned out better.Cuase i was definitly gonna move to Georgia.Well i'm still gonna move the family to Ga but i'm not in so much of a rush now.So get ready Nutty P!

If I knew it would be a good turnout, I'd travel quite long distances for a weekend meet. I don't think I could travel over to race with you guys though. bluelaugh

There used to be a tradition at the Isle of Mann during the TT. If a racer beat his bike into the dirt and there was a bike sitting unused they put the guy on it and let him run. I can see that happening here Red. If you come you will ride. bows_smilie

NP is right. I would also add that I always get an extra room at every event I do and it is for ANYONE who needs a place to crash from out of town. So next Summer, who knows... maybe a trip from down under.speechless33
Heck, I would even pick you up from the airport.

What are the chances of an event during the VIR AMA weekend? Either before the weekend or just after. That would give a 2-fer. I know the chances of pulling something like that off at this late date isn't good...but???? . Talk about pulling in more people. I'd have not problem with the Mrs.'s over that one. patriot canflag ausflag maybe even ukflag will show.

I needed to bump this one cuz people will have a decision to make this Summer.
I am working on an event in upstate New York for July.
I know I will have over a 4600 mile round trip from Arizona but it will be worth it.
I am going to bust my ass to have a good cash payout for both midbike classes.
Stay tuned, more info will be announced soon...

We are having an event on the 16th of August it'll be a track day but during an AMA event the championship event!! Man we should get some great exposure. Our crew is gonna make a weekend out of it will be vending on the blacktop as well..

To answer the original question I'm with S it's about the atmosphere for me. After the cost of travel, lodging, etc.. It dose'nt matter how much a payout is if it's a well promoted and organized event that's all I want. Good turnout and stiff or at least serious competition I'll be there!!rock2

That should be killer exposure for XMR & midbikes in general. thumbsup2
Will you be able to play a DVD in your vending area?
If so, I should have a DVD finished of midbike racing.
It will have footage of the New York event and some SoCal midbike racing. rock2

thinking_smilie It all depends on my schedule. I have a lot of time constraints. (tears2 sometimes I hate 2 jobs). If I had a 3day weekend+notice of an event, I would be highly inclined to get off my @$$ and go to GA, VA, NC! Otherwise I am stuck going to the Homestead Motorsports Complex in Miami with no one to race! thumb_down

HOMESTEAD!!!! (Hand coming from Saboygine to pop you upside the head LOLOLOL) Wicked you have that nice place all to yourself and you have no one to play with tears2 LOLOL You know I'm jealous right. Mid I think for a lot of us it boils down to getting the time and if we get the time is there enouhg fundage available at that time. That's where distance comes in and the gas prices now aren't going to help the situation any.

Only problem is I haven't heard of any midbike events at HMSC and to rent the track out for the day would cost me $9000 tears2 I could spend far less driving north and racing you guys up there (or at least get to ride the track while you blow dust in my face!bluelaugh)

Midbike Racer, have you not heard back from our race director?? If not... I'm going to kick him in the head!!!! speechless33banghead
Things are changing right now... I'm sure we can help support something, a midbike class or what ever!
Our club doesn't have "rules" for midbikes, but I can tell you this... if enough racers with the same bike (midbikes) show up, we'll create a class for you to run in so you don't have to race in our F1, F2, or F3 class's. Unless you wanted to try it out! :)
April 26th is our 1st race out at BeaveRun, PA. One of the best tracks on the mid/east coast!!! http://www.beaverun.com/facility_wilson_circuit_karting.htm
If any of you want to join in on the fun that day, let me know! Cost is VERY cheap too!
