So today I was very frustrated... I just got my new air filter... I went to take the fairings of on my x19...

One of the most frustrating things... I was so close to bashing the fairings off... Any tips on how to take them off... Like special tools? I was using a udjustable wrench on one side and another on the other side..

LOL dude, if you think the X19 fairings are hard to take off. Take a look at the X18, I can get all my X19 fairings off with your everyday tools in about 20 minutes. Putting them back on is the biiggest bitch

Tell me what tools you are using.. What is even worst I had my friend help me too... We pretty much gave up after an hour in the hot sun. We were using wrenches which might have been my problem.

i use a 10mm wrench, a 8mm wrench, a phillips head screwdriver
sometimes i use sockets
the best thing to do is get those things that clip on to the frame and are threaded and just zip them on easy
or i also use body fasteners like at advance auto, they are fast and clean

That's a 13 year old Chinese boy on Crack get it right moon1 Once you get the fairings off don't put them back on until you figure out a way to make taking them off again easier. Believe me it's worth the effort.

It took me about 30mins I just didn't give up.

The 1st time i gave up in 5mins lol...

The order I took them off was:

front fairing
seat
back fairing
side fairings

I use the adjustable ratcheting wrench tools my wife got me for xmas.

Oh yah the locking kind.

Also a 10 in 1 screw driver.

My lower fairings wer already cracked I guess from riding around when I first got it...

They are a life saver!

If you buy the u-nut clips and slide them over the frame holes you can take all the fairings off in less than 15 minutes.........................the clip size is m6-1.0 x 1/2".......

I bought mine from pepboys $12 bucks.;-they come two to a pack and needed 7 packs but only needed 13 clips...I did the rear tail and seat mounts too.......I also bought a can of clear spray and sprayed them good for rust protection

The rearward smaller screws are still mounted with the screw-nut combo...........trick to putting on the small nut is to put a thin strip of vinyl electric tape wrapped in the box end of the 8mm wrench to hold nut.....................

for the forward ones and underbelly I use the spring nut and some teflon anit vibe washers..............................Peace
