So last night we unhooked the x18 and x6 wiring. Took the engine out of the x6 and x18 and set them up on the work table. It took about 2 hours to get the bbk out of the x6 head and into the x18 head and start her up. I have to buy a rotator plate for the 26mm mikuni carb i got, im currently using the stocker which i thought i might add it leaves you with almost no tuning.

I have the front and back tires on the way, i may get it today considering yesterday i got the 28 tooth sprocket i ordered with a gasket kit. So today is going to be comprised of putting the x6 rims and tires on the x18, no brakes but who needs brakes when you got a clutch. You cant tune without being able to move so here in a few hours im gonna start the rest of the project. I have no pictures or video, my brother probobly got it stolen by the people he hangs with.

I am going to get some real paint and paint my plastics, im going to cut the bottom of my fairings which I was going to anyways cause im gonna drop a drag exhaust in there. I have to buy a seat and gas tank fairing, my front plastic has a chicken wire mod (better than the plastic), i also am going to go buy some blinkers, lights, and mirrors.

after eating a whole lime, eating a frosty, and a whole ass load of kicking have came to the conclusion i need a rotator plate A.S.A.P.

the stock carb simply cannot keep up with the fuel demand, it starts and goes WOT after you let out of it or give it less gas it dies. After we tuned and kicked all last night and a little bit ago I know im gonna haul ass with my mikuni, but hey whose in a rush here...me but i need a rotator plate, 52mm stock gasket kit, and tires that are on there way and i have to take the old ones off and put on the new.

so here in a little bit imma take the x6 head and see if the 26 carb can go onto the x6 head, basically its more work, take out mounts, undo engine carefully to not kill gaskets, put the timing chain back on right and hook up throttle and clutch with the gas line hooked up it should be a go

hopefully the head is different from the x6 model

x6 valves, onto of the x18's manual trans, we had the x18 head but it wouldnt fit the 26mm

the project worked with a fuel line thats nice and snug against the frame and the airfilter will not fit inbetween the frame and carb....i have the invest in a throttle body screen or something of that sort

I had the same problem fitting my mikuni 26mm in my x18. I had to make an air filter. I took the stock one that came with the kit and cut about a quarter inch off the end. I then used a salsa cap (no really) and jb welded the cap to the end of the filter I cut. It looks good and works great. I scuffed and painted the cap before I jb'd it on. A quick tip though. Use the quick set jb weld or else you'll be waiting 12 hours or so. Works perfect and you can make it to fit your application.

did the x6 valve head have bigger ports or just bigger valves?cuase for around 120 you can get the big valve head for that 114 of yours

Supercharged
09-02-2008, 10:03 AM
last night was an hour of kicking without any spark, we fizzled with grounds and unhooking plugs, cutting wires and electric taping them togethor i found out the culprirt.

the x18's igniter died and wasnt giving any spart so i grabbed the x6's igniter and BAM blue hot hot spark. well after an ass load of kicking the cylinder was flooded, plain out just have to wait for evaporation and im going to take this spark plug out soon and clean balls and let that cylinder get nice fresh air

i need to get starting fluid, she popped and kicked and sounds like she wants to start.

any ideas, im open to anything

Supercharged
09-02-2008, 10:06 AM
hey kenny, actually further inspection i see the x18 valves have less compression than the x6's in the first place, so it was actually a good thing to swap and for the big valve head its going to have to wait

i got to get her runnin, cut and make her plastics pretty, hook up my old battery, lights turn signals and of course the skeleton mod

X7rocks
09-02-2008, 10:06 AM
try setting the carburator to 3 turns out then set the choke up and give a little bit of fuel.
if it keeps on doing that check your time once more to see if it might have skipped dureing the process of puting it together.

as for the valve head its good to have some more torgue numbers

Supercharged

its in time, put it back togethor and realized the timing was off, simple mistake that happens

i shouldnt have to tune the carb because it ran on my x6 tranny fine but maybe it could need a tune..ill try anything i suppose to get this sucker runnin

X7rocks
09-02-2008, 10:09 AM

so the day after tomorrow imma get a battery to kick this motor over, after 5 hours of kickin this bike im goin electric sorry SHOOTER!!!!!!!

anyways imma get some race gas with octane booster also with some starting fluid

rene13
09-05-2008, 02:51 PM
When installing the underslung exhaust, I have found that it is easier to bleed the brakes before you put it on cause you wil need the full range of motion. It doesn't interfere will the brake once on. The dual one I don't know.thinking_smilie but I don't think it would cuase those honda monkey's have kickstart.

That is the Pipe I really wanted but G craft cost serious $$$$$$$

These pipes that come out of the side like that one and the underslung won't stick out no further than the tip of the Foot Peg.

That is a $415 exhaust. should be somewhat cheaper cause they are charging taxes on it for their country.

if anything you need the big valve head with 25 intake 22 exhuast that will make you feel more power then a good cam and i think hes set with the motor unless he wants a outer rotor kit to feel more of the hp the motor is capable of doing.

the carb problem happened to be the laws of ram air...after 3rd and 4th she had mass air so she was lean.

after some thinking it over i thought clamp and bent sheet metal, lastnight i did a speed run and my buddy was actually surprised by something and that means alot to me when a chill dude told me it was stupid fast.speechless33

Sorry what exactly do you mean..haha the sentence was a little confusing to understand. So x7rocks also wants you to make him an exhaust, you would like to make an exhaust for me and him but it might be expensive, and you dont have the right equipment to make it. Did i get that right?

Just a rough guess....Around how much do you think it would cost for you to make just that header?

grade 8 broke?!?!

must have been a bad bolt, anyways i have helo coil stuck in my head with a grade 8.

were gonna have to take off the head and drill out the coils...buy aluminum rod and fill the drilled holes and tap them and make our own threads.......again

that yamaha bike has a direct fit swingarm....i guess this gives us and excuse to take her apart and mod her up.

that swing arm needs painted, the head needs new threads, the plastics need ordered, cut, and painted.

well from what I've been told running a cooler on a 110 you need the HV pump as the stock one won't flow the oil through the cooler efficiently, just doesnt have the Umph to push it all that way...

my suggestion is wait til you can get close to the tail and have good brake control be4 u start scrapin....if you try to scrape a bar with no brake control you will wreck and tear the bike to shet....when you start coming behind BP and using the brake to bring you back consistently then you should put a bar on....you will know when your at BP (balance point) when your doin blox

now if you really just wanna get one and put it on they have some for fiddys that i think will mount up on ours no problem....it comes with brackets so no welding and also comes with the replaceable peice that makes sparks good

or you can go to tractor supply and buy some 2 in or so wide wide flat steel and weld it straight to the frame but measure twice weld once....i think i bought 2 in wide when i was gonna make one but my welder is broke so i still got it around here somewhere

i think a crash cage is gonna have to be next priority

nah i dont think its needed really....i just hold onto mine if i ever loop it but im not really goin fast either when i loop...ive let the side case tap the ground 1 time but only put scratches on it....but yea if you could fabricate one that wouldnt break the motor mounts off or bend them then yea it would be cool

ps...a lil thing that helped me learn rear brake.... i would have the brake rubbing a little bit while moving really slow so i could bring it up to balance point quick and just put more pressure on the brake if i went behind BP....if you go slow its easier to jump off or catch the bike and less risks of gettn hurt....

another thing you can try is lowering the air pressure alot til you can squish the tire with you fingers a little
