Yeah it looked real enough to me. The rider was adjusting the throttle on the fly and the sound matched the video? There are turbines that small what they're used for APU's (?) maybe? dunno

There used for radio controlled helicopters and the jet planes.I'm gonna assume that guy really nows what he's.Those little engines are very dangerous.Plus i don't really think that motor has a enough thrust to propel him and the bike at any great speeds.

ya i seen a turbine that small, they are cheap too
they idle at 35000 rpm and rev up to 1/4 million rpm

Nah, the casings of those engines run quite cool, all the heat goes out the exhaust. The engines are safe enough as they are run by an ECU that has many safeguards built into it. Most are auto-starting now, which means you just press a button and the ECU starts the engine. Anything not within parameters and the ECU just shuts off the engine.

The most powerful that I know of produces 55lbs of thrust, so swheels is correct that it won't produce much acceleration or top speed. You'd need at least double that thrust for decent performance.
