Ok don't laugh yet, I know she's pretty ugly but right now I am just getting everything welded, ground down and ready to sandblast.... I'm working on the swingarm right now, she is just a tad under 6" stretch, any more and the bike would be ugly IMO.... The pipe is home made and goes into the Flowmaster style muffler I built and put back in the stock case.... I tacked some brackets on the front of the frame for the oil cooler....Hopefully tomarrow my shock will be in (X17) so I can get the top shock mount fabbed up and welded in... I'm thinking a bracket with 2 or three mounting points to adjust the stace and ride...

The seat fairing was cut and reworked using part of an X1 tank , I platic welded and fiberglassed it to the seat fairing to flow into the new customed X1 tank cover... I had to do alot of trimming on the tank to get it to fit the frame, I then cut out the top of the tank and glued in some pieces of .080 styrene plastic to the underside for the custom flap to fit into so it is flush with the tank cover...

My 170 kit will be in tomarrow.... I sent that TB cam back and applied that refund towards a 170 kit.... Hopefully with that kit, a 28mm mikuni, my custom intake manifold, exhaust and a port job on the head will make this lil bike run out really well....

More pics to come as I get it further along..

Once the bike all together and painted the swingarm will look in place... The bike isnt setting where it will be, either is the body....

170 in that, wow
you might as well make some wheelie bars
looks like a fun project, its hard to see the vision sometimes
give it a few months, if that

LOL, yeah a 170... I wanted to make it a 183 with a 57mm crank but since the 170 cylinder doesnt have any skirts or they are shorter, not sure which yet until it gets here today, anyways I was told there won't be enough piston in the cylinder with a long stroke.... If I'd known at the time I would have opted for the 165 kit since it has the long skirts.......

Once everything is welded up, ground down and ready to be blasted then the bike will start to take on a different vision....... I have to get the engine back on the bike, line up the sprockets, get the rear wheel where it's gonna be, get the shock brackets all welded in place, make sure the exhaust clears everything again and then put the entire body back on and adjust, trim, tweak anything there so I can get everything ready to primer...

DNA eh?? Thats an Idea, Thanks Nutty......

That is a mini drag?? that is just too cool.... I wish I could mold a body like that for this bike, I spose I could if I put my mind to it... Some carboard, masking tape and fiberglass LOL...

Blitz$, you may be right about the wheelie bar and this pic Nutty posted gives me an idea how to build one thumbsup2

Yeah 125cc I didn't think it was either. Then I noticed the zip-ties on the front fender. I don't think a real fullsize drag bike's front fender would survive half a run with that. speechless33 The fender would push down onto the front tire real quick. I got the photo from a vendor on the www.honda50.com site.It looks like they sell nothing but Japanese hard to find parts dunno

Any updates 125...havent seen you in a while

I was on vacation last week and just went back to work yesterday 8-25 for the first day in two months so I havent gotten anything done.... I did get an extra set of forks, gonna try a dual disc brake... I am gonna stop by Aeroquip tomarrow and see if they can make me up a brake line with a T in it to each caliper so I dont have to run two brake lines to the master...

I got my 170 kit, wow is that huge LOL... gonna take pics with a stock 125 piston setting on top of the 170 LOL... looks like a Yugo on top of a Hummer...bluelaugh

Oh I did smooth out the lip around the valves in my head so the chamber flows smooth now and doesn't have that sharp edge which would restrict flow and be a source for a hot spot, in the cumbustion chamber there shouldn't be any hard edges, these can absorb alot of heat and be hot spots...

I was looking at the bike a few minutes ago and looking to see if I can run a pitbike shock in the rear but with the exhaust I built the shock will not fit unless I could cut it down from 11" to around 8.5-9".... I was trying to find out from Jagspeed how much he cut his down and how he went about it...

I'll post some pics this week

dual brakes on a drag bike? u wont even use 1 disc on the drag strip really....but if you want to do that then i would use 2 lines with a banjo bolt than runs both lines straight to the calipers....and heck since ur making new lines i would put a better master on it as well bcuz these masters are weak with just one caliper

well the dual disc is more for looks that function.... I have large X17 masters that I was planning on using.... I don't care for the idea of two lines from the master, I want the bike to look more like it came with duals with a single line into a T and to each caliper like a full size bike...I plan on running the X17 caliper with dual pistons on the rear..... The big brakes will be an insurance policy with the 170 LOL...

Hey Stuntn, I should have gotten your addy before we went to Townsend.... Man I love it down there, the wife and I are trying to figure out a way to move down there.... we looked at a few places but the prices right in the smokies is off the hook....... yeah mounting the calipers isnt the problem, I just dont want two lines running to the master cyl, I wanted to use one line from the master to a T block and a line to each caliper from there but I cant get my head together on how to do it since Aeroquip doesnt have the fittings I need... My next thought was to redrill and tap the calipers for pipe thread, use an adapter and buy short braided brake lines for a car and make up the system like that...banghead

well this aint nascar
but to get technical, i did consider that
i did tests where i measured the temp of the rotors after casual riding and hard braking conditions
at first, there a big difference between the two, it turned out to be more precise shims fixed that
and they do work great, i could stop so much faster than stock

I flowed the areas around the valves in the combustion chamber to get rid of the hard edges for better flow and then polished the chamber, I ported and polished the head as well... The exhaust has a near mirror finish, the intake I roughed up with some 80 grit after the porting....

a few more inprogress pics...

I have the rear brake mounted and I think it will work ok now with the lever angled a little more...

The shock mounts are 3/16" flat stock, with the angle and design of the brackets the shock is pretty stiff, should be good for the style bike I'm aiming for..

The brakets up top are going to be the battery box, the front half also will support the Nology coil and rear gas tank bracket...

The blue Nology wire is Compliments of Swheels.... Thanks S, it will be perferct for this build...

The engine is 170cc, 28mm mikuni on a custom built intake manifold...

I'm starting back on the body getting everything fitted so I can finishing stripping it and do the body work...

a few updates on the build... I have most of the body coated in a high build urethane primer, blocked and almost ready to seal before paint..

The exhaust is big and tight, I wanted it to go up between the engine and the frame but the pipe with the wrapping was too big to fit so I had to rebuild it to go up behind the foot peg...

I think the x1 tank looks pretty good now, almost looks like it came with the bike... way better than the ugly x12 ducatti style tank, I just didnt like that at all... Pics are a bit blurry, it was dark when I took them...

Yeah it's definately an addiction, so much so I'm gonna go pick up an X19 this afternoon for $30.... yep $30 so he says...The body is trashed and it needs the cdi and afew other things but I figure for that price if I can make it run it might be worth buying a body kit and putting it back together...

well I started blasting the frame today but it started getting a little late so I'll finish that up tomarrow or sunday.... Once it's all blasted I'll shoot it in epoxy primer and then start doing the bondo work on the welds to get them smoothed out... The idea of the epoxy primer first is to seal the metal and give the filler a good substrate to adhere to plus with body fillers they have chemicals in them that actually can cause the metal to oxidize undernieth them... Once I get her all painted I don't want the filler to bubble later on down the road....

yeah it was about 5 years ago I needed a car and was tired of used stuff so I got the PT, it's Chrysler so I got my employee discount... It's been a good little car, I like it for getting around town, did good on the road too.... I don't need some big gas sucking suv or truck anymore, thats why I sold my F100 with the 440 Mopar in it last spring, just couldn't justify spending $4-$5 on a gal of premium and only get 8 mpg cruising...

No motor work on the pt , only thing I did was put some 60 series tires on it.thumbsup2

You put a mopar in a ford??? How hard was that to do???

yep sure did... It wasnt bad, at the time I had the whole frt end off the truck so taking it in and out was easy... I used a Dodge truck oil pan, dodge truck motor mounts and headers... I had to weld some plates in the fram efor the mounts to set on but that was about it... The tranny sat right on the original Ford crossmember, I just redrilled a ford tranny mount to bolt to the Mopar trans.... I wired in the Chrysler ignition and charging system to the Ford harness... I took the Ford drive shaft and a Mopar driveshaft down to the local driveline shop, they cut the Ford shaft down a little and welded in the Mopar frt yoke....

This was actually a pretty easy swap...

I have a little more blasting to do on the 19 frame yet but I'll probably wait til I get the body in and the brackets welded on....

Saturday while blasting the frames my air compressor broke down so I spent most of the day yesterday and today working on that, the compressor is going again so I'm good to go with the blasting and painting...thumbsup2.

why did you make an intake for it?

The intake that came with the engine put the carb right against the frame so I had to make one that pointed the carb straight back which led to another problem, the upper engine mount wouldnt allow for an airfilter so I cut that out and made a new mount welded to the lower frame rails with short tabs for the mounts...

This intake is approx 28mm i.d and has a short bend unlike the stock intakes that are almost a 90 degree bend disturbing airflow to the engine.... Airflow with as little of disturbance as possible helps with h.p....

Well I got the frame primed and painted... I stood at the paint shelves for prob 15 minutes deciding on a color and decided to go with Dupli-Color Texture Charcoal.... It's nearly black but metallic and it has a little less than smooth texture, almost like the bed coating only maybe a tad smoother... I figure this will be a little different than the normal silver or black.....

Now I have to decide on body color... I was thinking House of Kolor pearl tangelo (yellowish orange) or straight black??... not sure if the frame will be too dark for the tangelo or not..

Oh I see what ya mean. You need a bigger bike to slap that on period. Just a thought. The X22 is pretty wide in the back but you'd have to cut the steer tube and rake it out more, but I'll bet it would look good. Also the swinger attaches inside the frame with the bolt going through the frame then the swingarm. There are actually roller bearings inside swingarm and frame so it's real smooth. Somethings on the X22 were done right but too many things just fell down in the design dunno

Yeah it is a lot bigger than they said it was.... I may build a custom drag bike frame or even a chopper to use it on or possibly some sort of T-rex 3 wheeled kart....

To be honest I don't think this wheel will look right on any mid, the 22 is pretty wide but this thing is huge, it will look like a Zinger LOL..

This tire is approx 18.5" tall and 8" wide, the wheel is 10".... It's an awesome combo but needs to go on something different...

can you stretch a 145/50/10 on there? well i guess not but maybe a lower profile tire will make fitting easier
find a tire the has a tall side wall that will stretch out to 8" and tube it

no this wheel is 8" wide, the MB tire will never fit, this tire is nearly twice as wide as a 145/50-10.... Gonna have to build a custom frame for it LOL

Well a cateye is smaller than a mid so it would probably look better on a x18 or a x22

nah it's just too big...needs a frame built around the tire so it looks proportional like the drag bike frame pictured above..

My vote...not that you ask bluelaugh is for something like the second one or something like this. Part Mid Bike part Mid Chopper. A 125cc hybrid original.

yeah I love the look of the second one, that is just slick..... I wanna try and find some better pics so I can get a better idea of how the frame is layed out...

That bike you posted is pretty wild, lots of work and money in that....
