i made this thread so you can see how it looked befor i fixed it up. This is the x6 i made a thread about a while back, its one of my friends, Some of the farings are craked and have holes in them, im going to fix them by using jb weld with duck tape, or some other stuff shooter told me would work better!??? not sure. It needs a new carb, and clutch drum for it to run good, i have a friend that i can get the stuff for free, Im going to paint it for him to, hes not shure what color but well think of something. Im going to wet sand it cuz i dont want crap going into my nose and making me retarded, Ill post up some pics so ya guys can see it!thumbsup2

im going to fill in the cracks and holes with some stuff shooter uses on his bike. i have the gas tank and front faring sanded, now i gota do the rest!! dam thats gonna suck! hes still not sure what color he wants it. what color would look nice on it??

How'd the bondo work out for you?
Hopefully it'll be strong enough to stand up to all the vibration and other abuse it will get.
I suggested the bondo over the plastic fusion because it's a waaay cheaper alternative .......... and I think it will eventually get messed up again anyway, so it should make for a relatively easier repair.

Go to AutoZone or Checkers or ???? and get the light gray primer ....... If you use black primer the red will look more like a dark blood red and look rather lifeless.

ok,i got almost the hole bike sanded, im not shure what primer or paint to buy! theres a shit load of them, so wich is the best????? its gonna be a red bike so?? and where do they sell it. home depot would be a good store, its closer to my house.lol ill post pics laterthumbsup2

I was just messing with ya.......


a garbage bag and Easy Off oven cleaner will take all the paint off...Thats the only way I know of to strip paint off plastic without hurting the plastic...

i went with the duplicolor from autozone and topped it with a clearcoat. come out almost as good as doing it with a gun.

Oh no you won't ninja!
You buy that home depot paint you might as well be going to the dollar store!
You get ANY gas on that paint and it'll blister off like nobody's business.
Spend a couple more bucks and get the paint from AutoZone

If you should ever decide to use anything other than an automotive paint........at least make sure you use an automotive clear coat!

i think i got the wrong ones!!!??? it says truck van and suv paint is a acrylic lacqure formulated to use over any original factor finish.??? and the primer says, primer sealer seals primed surfaces,????? wtf, i should of just gone to wally mart!!

You did fine. The sealer part means it seals out whatever is underneath the primer that might mess up the paint you're about to spray. As for the color don't be surprised when it appears like you can still see the primer through the paint. You can. Auto paint is the best but it sprays thin out of a can so it takes more cans.

That's how it should have been done. Like Shooter said a while back if you go the regular paint route like I did make sure you get a automotive clear to go on top.

ok finaly im dont painting!!!! it look nice, when you put it out in the sun it gliters,and shines, ill post pics, tomorow, it just the farings, cuz i dont have all the screws to put it together. now i just need to install the used carb i got hopefully it works. i just put in the new clutch drum. how tite is it sopsed to be????:confused:

ok i got the parts, i put them on, it started up, but it wont stay on, like i rev it and it bogs out and shuts off, and when i try to start it again it wont, i have to wait like 3 min, is it geting flooded?? some times it starts with the choke on, but some times it wont,??? it revs high to, then i let the throttle go starts boging and try to give it more throttle and bogs out and shuts off??:confused: i tryed adjusting the carb but???i ll try again tomorowo

wait about 4 days and hit it with some good wax for scratches. Im pissed off cause my handle bar bumped my tank. lol My paints solid though i have about 7 coats on it.

it helps. No paint is scratch resistent. If you wanted that should have coated it in bed liner. Did you use duplicolor?

u can hit it with a heatgun or let it sit in the sun im pretty sure to "bake" the paint on. other than that, let it cure so it will become less scratch-resistant

yea, engine cover need. air goes on in front! (i think!)

wet sand the crap out of it
primer it a few coats
wet sand the crap out of it again
spray a few thin coats of paint
Then a few thicker coats of paint
then hit it with a few coats of clear
Then kick back and wait

I left out a few but i hate all this typing. Its taking my hand off of my beer to much.

i wouldnt use that on anything. i used to work at a tire repair place and i had a guys bring in a tire with that shit in it. man was that a mess. just get a new tire. and i dont think your tire has a tube, they are tubless.

the x6 wheels are tube rims, you cannot put tubelesstires on x6 rims, unless maybe you use a tube

I don't know about slime but Fix-A-Flat will corrode the aluminum inside the rim. Not bad enough to weaken it but bad enough to pit it and make it rough enough to rub holes in replacement tubes. Stay away.
